    This course has designed to nurture your potential to produce a team-based project covering a problem-solving solution in traditional medicine adoption into Society 5.0.

      Welcome to our first day of an exciting journey! 

      Today we will have a warm welcome from our Deans and OSC team, followed by a fun-tastic social and cultural event to get to know your peers.

    • Day 1 (Monday, July 5, 2021): Traditional Healing from Socio-cultural aspects

      Dear OSC 2021ers!

      The learning outcomes  of the Day 1 is that students are able to explain a certain traditional healing method

      The method of delivery will be divided into a panel discussion and an asynchronous activity in eLOK

      Asynchronous individual activity

      Students are required to gather information about the traditional healing of certain tribes/regions from internet sources. It is an individual activity in which the student uploads a related picture and a brief description in eLOK explaining the healing method (Forum Discussion Day 1). Giving peer feedback are mandatory for each group members. This activity will be discussed on Day 2 in the group discussion session.

    • Day 2 (Tuesday, July 6, 2021): Traditional Herbal Medicines in Asia

      Dear OSC 2021ers!

      The learning outcomes  of the Day 2 is that students are able to analyze traditional healing methods and able to explain certain preparation of herbal medicine

      The method of delivery will be divided into a panel discussion, group discussion and an asynchronous activity.

      Asynchronous activity consist of task submission and group discussion in eLOK

      Students are required to describe/ explain one type of traditional medicine preparations from their home country/ region.

      Task must be provided with picture and submitted individually into group forum

      The other members of each group should give the feedback within the group.

    • Day 3 (Wednesday, July 7, 2021): Standardization in herbal medicine raw materials

      Dear OSC 2021ers!

      The learning outcomes  of the Day 3 is that students are able to understand the importance of herbal medicine raw material standardization

      The method of delivery will be divided into virtual field excursion, a panel discussion, and an asynchronous activity. 

      Asynchronous activity consist of task submission and group discussion in eLOK.





      Asynchronous individual activity

      Select certain traditional medicine preparation ingredient, and describe about how the raw materials are produced.

      Task must be submitted individually into group forum.

      The other members of each group should give the feedback within the group.

    • Day 4 (Thursday, July 8, 2021): Adoption of technology in traditional medicine development

      Dear OSC 2021ers!

      The learning outcomes  of the Day 4 is that students are able to utilize digital tools for solving problem related to bioactive metabolites

      The method of delivery will be divided into a panel discussion, virtual laboratory work, and an asynchronous activity. 

      Asynchronous activity consist of group task submission in eLOK.

      Case-based learning: Utilizing KNApSAcK/IJAH to solve case.

      Case is assigned into each group, discussed and submitted as a group.

    • Day 5 (Friday, July 9, 2021): Jamu preparation

      Dear OSC 2021ers!

      The learning outcomes  of the Day 5 is that students are able to follow the steps for Jamu or traditional medicine preparation.

      The method of delivery will be divided into virtual laboratory work and an asynchronous activity. 

      Asynchronous activity consist of group task submission in eLOK.

      GROUP DIY VIDEO ASSIGNMENT:

      • 1.  Pick an easy herbal recipe, try it out at home, and document your activity (3-min video)
      • 2. Upload your video on your preferred platform (Youtube, GoogleDrive, etc)
      • 3. Copy the url link to your uploaded video
      • 4. Paste the link to the video submission section in eLOK by 12 pm (Jakarta/Bangkok time) on SUNDAY, JULY 11, 2021
      • 5. Rate your peers' videos using provided rubric by 7 pm (Jakarta/Bangkok time) on SUNDAY, JULY 11, 2021
      • 6. Rate your team-work (check your email) by 9 am (Jakarta/Bangkok time) on MONDAY, JULY 12, 2021


    • Day 6 (Monday, July 12, 2021): Adapting traditional medicine into society 5.0 era

      Dear OSC 2021ers!

      The learning outcomes  of the Day 6 is that students are able to analyze certain herbal medicine/cosmetics product from a perspective of market acceptability.

      The method of delivery will be divided into presentation of previous task, panel discussion, and an asynchronous activity. 

      Asynchronous activity consist of group task submission in eLOK.


      Asynchronous activity

      Write an essay (1000 - 2000 words minus title and references, use recent references <10y) about modern herbal preparation for medicine/herbal supplements/cosmetics by revewing a certain commercial product.

      Submit your essay as a group.

    • Day 7 (Tuesday, July 13, 2021): The Role of Herbal Medicine in Tackling Current Health Problems

      Dear OSC 2021ers!

      The learning outcomes  of the Day 7 is that students are able to work collaboratively to identify problem related to certain issue in adapting herbal medicine/cosmetics for the community 5.0

      The method of delivery will be divided into panel discussion, group discussion and an asynchronous activity. 

      Asynchronous activity consist of group discussion and presentation preparation in eLOK.


      Asynchronous activity (Final Project)


      For your final project, you and your group have to propose a project with these following criteria:

      Theme: Adopt and Adapt Traditional Medicine into Society 5.0

      Content:

      • Find an existing real life problem related to the theme

      • Propose an idea of solution to the problem (This might be a start up, website, community-based action, application etc.)


      Form: video presentation of the idea (3-5 min in duration), video can be animation, ppt presentation, vlog etc. In addition to the idea/main content, the video has to contain a title, references, role of each group member.

      Assessment criteria:

      • Suitability of the chosen problem with the theme (15)

      • Solution to the problem and rationale for the solution (15)

      • Innovation (15)

      • Supporting scientific data/theory (15)

      • Multidisciplinary approach (10)

      • Attractiveness (10)
      • Teamwork (20)

      Steps for project building (3 days)

      • Day 1: Building idea by a group chat in a Forum provided in eLOK (the syncronous avtivity Day 7)
      • Day 2: Finalizing project concept. Please create a google doc file on your own and use this to collaboratively work with your group members on the concept. Then, please upload the link for this google doc in the same discussion forum you use on Day 7
      • Day 3: Finalizing the project and upload it to the submission form under the asyncronous activity on Day 9

      Vote for the best video by reviewing 3 videos from different group using the peer assessment rubrics provided in eLOK (Day 9).

    • Day 8 (Wednesday, July 14, 2021): Are industrialization of traditional medicine and digital marketplace the answer for adapting the society 5.0? – Herbal Industry for medicinal and cosmetics

      Dear OSC 2021ers!

      The learning outcomes  of the Day 8 is that students are able to understand jamu/traditional cosmetic production and able to work in a group to solve problem related to traditional medicines misuse in the digital era.

      The method of delivery will be divided into panel discussion, group discussion and an asynchronous activity. 

      Asynchronous activity consist of group discussion and presentation preparation in eLOK.

    • Day 9 (Thursday, July 15, 2021): Are industrialization of traditional medicine and digital marketplace the answer for adapting the society 5.0? – Regulation of Herbal Medicines from Asian countries

      Dear OSC 2021ers!

      The learning outcomes  of the Day 9 is that students are able to work in a group to solve problem related to traditional medicines misuse in the digital era and able to create and evaluate traditional medicine-related problem-solving-projects .

      The method of delivery will be divided into panel discussion, group discussion and an asynchronous activity. 

      Asynchronous activity consist of group discussion and final project presentation in eLOK.

    • Day 10 (Friday, July 16, 2021): Group Presentation and Judging

      Dear OSC 2021ers!

      The learning outcomes  of the Day 10 is that students are able to deliver the final project.

      The best video from each big group (Big group 1= Group 1-10; Big group 2= Group 11-20; etc) will be played on FRIDAY (July 16, 2021) in front of panelists who will ask some questions. The best video (chosen by the panelists) will receive reward. So, make sure you join us on Friday!


    • Course Closing

      Dear OSC 2021ers!

      This is our final session of an exciting journey!

      We will spread our joyful experiences continuously.

      Lets hope that our Ideas will be echoing through time and history, while our friendship will last forever.

      And, to evaluate our summer course, we will send you a survey to help us providing more exciting activities in the next summer course via email. We appreciate your willingness to fill the survey.
