Case Study of Regulation of Herbal Medicine in Indonesia

According to the covering area of herbal medicine, there are three aspects to be observed and regulated: the exploration of natural resources, the process of production and safety and efficacy of herbal medicinal products. The focus problems are endangered plants, implementation of good manufacturing practices in obtaining qualified products, and study on formula in order to guarantee safety and efficacy of herbal medicinal products.

Please discuss the following questions with your group member:

1. What is your opinion on the use of Cannabis in traditional medicine formula?

2. Is it dangerous to take an expired herbal medicinal product from the marked? Explain your answer

3. An online promotion of a sliming tea product mentions that after seven days consumption of three times a day, you can decrease 20 kg of your body weight. If this is  true, please give your opinion what is the active component of the product?
